In the past, the paid middleware apps I’ve recommended are Sound Siphon (which I’ve been using for years), Audio Hijack 3.x, or Loopback.

Paid middleware applications that I recommended before This is often desirable if you want to get audio from a conferencing service like Cleanfeed Pro (my favorite), Apple FaceTime, Google Hangouts, Google Meet, Jitzi, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Skype, and more.

The goal is that one audio application can send audio to another via a virtual audio device. What is the purpose of these middleware applications/virtual audio devices? I will also add an embedded video and add my comments. In advance, I will cover who should use the included new Hindenburg virtual audio device and who should do something else. With the new Hindenburg installer or upgrade, it is even possible to uninstall Soundflower as part of the process, which is wonderful. More than three years after, Hindenburg officially agrees with me and now, fortunately, contains its own software for virtual audio devices, which is now installed on macOS with Hindenburg Journalist pro. Some middleware is required on macOS for one audio application to send audio to the other via a virtual audio device. At this point, I expressed my disappointment with Soundflower as an audio middleware to you (the readers) and to our friends in Hindenburg, and I suggested using some paid alternatives that are much more reliable than Soundflower.
